See the Islands from the Air
Offering scenic flights over the San Juan Islands in a beautifully restored 1927 TravelAir Biplane carrying two passengers side by side in the open front cockpit.
The flights last 35-40 minutes and touch on five of the San Juan Islands, culminating with a climb to 3000 feet over the top of Orcas Island's Mt. Constitution for an awesome 360 degree panorama of the whole archipelago. We provide leather helmets and goggles and a warm jacket that is also a flotation device.
We charge $174.50+tax per passenger when two people fly together (please call for single passenger pricing) and would be delighted to share this once in a lifetime experience with you and your family. No better way to experience the incredible beauty of these islands. Truly a sensory overload. 'Like riding a Harley through the Sky'.
Plane and Pilot
Cap'n Mac and Ol' Countdown
Cap'n Mac began "Barnstorming" over 40 years ago as a parachute jumper with Richard Bach's "Great American Flying Circus". After several summers flying in the Circus Mac participated as a Pilot & Jumper in the filming of "Nothing by Chance", a feature length documentary movie chronicling gypsy pilots recreating the Barnstorming era & lifestyle in modern Midwest America. In the years following Mac continued flying & spent a good part of every summer hopping rides in his own TravelAir Biplane. Flying over 9,000 hours to date the good Captain has shared the joys of open cockpit flying and the beauty of these Northwest Skys with over 19,000 passengers. His lovely wife Roni, herself a pilot, helps with the operation and passenger relations.
The TravelAir 4000 Biplane you'll be flying in is a rare survivor of the Golden Age of Flight. Built in 1927 by the TravelAir

Thrilling! Awesome! Nothing like it!
What a way to experience the San Juan Islands! And more than that, it is so satisfying to be in the good hands of Stuart and Roni MacPherson whose enjoyment of hosting this experience is obvious.
We enjoyed last summer's flight so much we wanted to fly again this year. (Read More...)
